Scan to Email using a Business Microsoft 365 account
The following instructions assist you to prepare a Microsoft Office 365 Business account and configure the supported Kyocera device to scan to email using the Oauth2 modern authentication.
Background
From April 2026, Microsoft plans to default the 365 environments to use OAuth2 modern authentication, the following settings will be required to scan to email.
Typically a standard Staff member email account is not used for the printer to scan to email. It is recommended a dedicated 365 Email address in the organisation’s tenancy is created for scanning purposes.
Preparation Steps
- Configure the Microsoft 365 for Business account and check the Modern Authentication setting within the tenancy
Configure Microsoft 365 for Business account Admin Center
- Login to the Admin Centermicrosoft.com using an Administrator account
- In the left pane select Users > Active Users
- Create/Select the Account you wish to use for Scanning
- Select Mail, then in Email Apps > Manage Email Apps
- Ensure Authenticated SMTP is enabled and Save the changes

Tip: Business accounts default size limit is 25 MB. The limit can be increased up to 150 MB.
In the 365 Admin Center, search for Modern Authentication

Ensure the Modern Authentication and Authenticated SMTP settings are enabled
