Cloud Based IT Solution for ChildFund Australia

Cloud Based IT Solution for ChildFund Australia

Successful migration to the cloud significantly reduced downtime and boosted user confidence, marking a transformative shift in ChildFund Australia's IT landscape.

This case study was originally conducted by Huon IT, which is now integrated with Kyocera to deliver end-to-end technology services for organisations.

ChildFund Australia faced numerous challenges with their document management and security systems, experiencing costly downtime, low user satisfaction, and decreased productivity. Partnering with Kyocera, they sought solutions to enhance their computer systems, bolster security, and minimise downtime. This collaboration led to widespread benefits for ChildFund, including platform resilience, cost savings, enhanced security, and smoother operations.

I would highly recommend engaging with Kyocera, reach out to them. We have found them to be a highly engaged business partner of ours over the last five years who have always been prepared to go that extra mile for ChildFund.

- Adrian Graham, Deputy CEO/ Operations, ChildFund Australia

Their story

ChildFund Australia is an independent international aid and development organisation that works to reduce poverty for children in many of the worlds most disadvantaged communities.

ChildFund Australia is a member of the ChildFund alliance- one of the world’s oldest and most experienced child-focused development agencies. With a global network of 11 organisations, the ChildFund Alliance assists almost 32 million children and families in 70 countries. ChildFund Australia directly manages and implements programs with a range of local partners across six countries in the Asia Pacific region including Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Timor- Leste and Vietnam.

The overarching vision for ChildFund Australia is a world without Poverty where all children and young people can say “I am safe, I am educated, I contribute, and I have a future.” – Adrian Graham.

The challenges

ChildFund Australia faced many challenges with their previous document management and security systems including costly downtime and low user satisfaction which led to staff frustration and a lack in productivity. To solve these long-term issues, ChildFund partnered with Kyocera to understand how they could improve their computer systems, increase security and reduce downtime.

“Kyocera’s approach to project management has allowed us to leverage expertise that we would not have had access to otherwise. The experience from Kyocera specialists that can be drawn on for a project allows for the development of a robust solution with multiple approaches at a lower cost.” Kyocera worked with ChildFund Australia to tackle the issues ChildFund were facing, several significant technological platforms and software were introduced, including cloud computing and a major new CRM.

As a result of working with Kyocera, ChildFund Australia reached complete confidence in cloud use for document management and IT security as it improved productivity by limiting manual processes, reducing downtime and increased satisfaction from staff.

The solution

Kyocera has significantly enhanced the work environment at ChildFund Australia by implementing Microsoft cloud solutions. Since 2019, ChildFund Australia has partnered with Kyocera, resulting in a comprehensive transition to cloud-based technologies. Prior to this migration, ChildFund Australia faced security challenges due to outdated physical hardware and infrastructure. To address these concerns, Kyocera not only facilitated the adoption of cloud technology but also collaborated with ChildFund Australia to conduct an initial IT audit, fostering strategic business growth and bolstering cybersecurity measures.

“The engagement with Kyocera throughout this process was excellent and professional and they were very proactive in identifying solutions or alternate strategies where they thought it would benefit ChildFund.” Adrian Graham, Deputy CEO/ Operations.

The results

Some of the widespread benefits that the move to the cloud has given ChildFund Australia include confidence in the resilience of their platforms and in turn, has freed them from the cost and confusion of upgrade cycles of on-premises services. It has also increased the security of their systems, ensuring Child Fund Australia are utilising modern platforms with up-to-date privacy standards. Cloud software has also facilitated a seamless move for many of their staff, “before cloud migration we were experiencing increased downtime, low user satisfaction and confidence, unpredictability, and many sleepless nights, however after cloud migration we were negligible to zero downtime.”
